Vitamin D - 25-Hydroxyvitamin D levels below 50 nmol/l have been associated with a variety of diseases in Western civilization such as osteoporosis, altered muscle function, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, hypertension and certain types of cancer, while supplementation with vitamin D has reduced blood pressure in hypertensive subjects, improved blood glucose in diabetics, and improved symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
